Western Kentucky University student Cory Gearlds, a sophomore from Tompkinsville, KY has been selected as one of 16 participants for the 2008 Sigma Phi Epsilon Tragos Quest to Greece. Gearlds is the first Kentucky Delta Sigma Phi Epsilon member and just the second Sig Ep from the state of Kentucky to be accepted to the program. Founded in 2001, the Tragos Quest to Greece is a 10-day experiential journey that allows participants to understand the principles of Sigma Phi Epsilon in while exploring ancient Greece. During the June 20-29 trip participants will “discuss the Socratic method of teaching in the Agora where Socrates taught, compete in the original Olympic stadium, and study the [fraternity] ritual in Delphi after learning about the Mysteries of Eleusis,” according to a description of the Tragos Quest to Greece online at www.sigep.org/quest. Participants were selected based on campus and chapter involvement, scholarship and demonstrated leadership.
